Job Opportunity: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule: Saturday through Monday, 6:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Work Type: Full Time


Job Summary

Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing, testing patient specimens, quality control, instrument operation and maintenance, and assisting with new procedure development. May perform phlebotomy and other patient-oriented tasks. Must have excellent transfusion service (blood banking) skills.


Responsibilities

  • Perform all routine and complex laboratory procedures in assigned section, considering age- and sex-specific values.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment; perform minor repairs or notify biomedical support.
  • Cross-train in other laboratory sections as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory quality control programs.
  • Calculate, enter, and verify laboratory results.
  • Use Laboratory Information System for documentation.
  • Notify and document critical laboratory values.
  • Process patient specimens with attention to minimal pediatric specimen volumes when required.
  • Participate in evaluation, development, and implementation of new or updated testing procedures and protocols.
  • Demonstrate competence in patient care responsibilities tailored to population-specific and developmental needs.
  • Adapt patient assessment and care methods to accommodate physical, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental needs.
  • Complete all required compliance and regulatory tasks following applicable policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Texas
  • Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year (0 years of experience acceptable)
  • MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT certification
  • Education evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency as equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology
  • Excellent transfusion service (blood banking) skills
  • Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) experience
