Registered Nurse - MedSurg/PCU Nights

Location: Clarkston, Washington
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting, covering MedSurg and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) areas.
• Must be experienced in all areas and flexible to work across departments as needed.
• Identify patient and family education needs and provide education using appropriate methods.
• Ensure patient safety through preventative measures (e.g., side rails, restraints, safe equipment use) and follow restraint policies correctly.
• Demonstrate knowledge of safe operation and troubleshooting of equipment in PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas.
• Implement infection control and isolation procedures with proper documentation.
• Use standard precautions at all times.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses during shifts.
• Accurately document charge and complete physician orders timely, including 24-hour order checks if assigned.
• Provide thorough change-of-shift reports to incoming staff.
• Communicate effectively with other departments.
• Report critical lab values to physicians promptly according to policy.
• Maintain and restock emergency carts, patient rooms, and general supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
• Minimum of 3 years of MedSurg nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficient in troubleshooting essential equipment used in PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg settings.
