Registered Nurse - Ortho and Neuro Unit

Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Unit: Orthopedic and Neurology
Patient Population: Medical Surgical, Orthopedic, Neuro
Unit Size: 35 beds
Shift: Days (36 or 48 hour option)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
Float Requirement: Yes, to units of equal or lesser acuity
Block Scheduling: Case by case
Documentation System: EPIC (experience within last 6 months required)
Telemetry monitored in a centralized unit
Free floating charge nurse
Support staff available: Patient Care Technicians, Patient Transporters, House discharge nurse
Scrub Color: Any, no logos
Local Traveler Rule: Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification
National Tech Certification Verification
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
Medication Administration by Biologics (MAB) certification
Experience with EPIC electronic health record system (within the last 6 months)

Additional Requirements

7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
Education verification (highest level) required
State license primary source verification required
Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
Color blindness testing required
Safety and orientation acknowledgements required
References and work history verification as per policy
Local travel radius rule applies (must live 50+ miles away)
