Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Shift: Medical Surgical Days
Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours
Start Date: ASAP
Patient Ratio: 1:6
Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
Float Requirement: Yes, within scope
On Call: None
Block Scheduling: Case by case
Unit Size: 32 beds
Documentation System: EPIC
Scrub Color: Any (no hospital logos)
First Time Travelers: Accepted
Local Travelers: Not accepted

Required Experience

Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical nursing
Prior travel experience not required

Required Certifications & Licenses

Registered Nurse license valid in New Mexico
BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
CHEMO certification
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
Education verification (highest level) required
Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
Physical exam within 12 months of start
Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Photo for badge required
Complete application/resume and unit-specific skills checklist annually
7-year work history verification required

Additional Notes

Must complete 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
Floating to other units may be required within scope of practice
Orientation and EPIC training available pending fingerprint clearance
Behavioral Health nurses require specific competency-based training prior to start

This position is suitable for Medical Surgical Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience seeking a travel contract in New Mexico with a 13-week commitment.
