- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (renew every 2 years)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable)

Required Documents & Background Checks

- Background check within 45 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- Death Master Index
- County, Nationwide, and National Sex Offender checks
- FACIS Level 3
- Education verification
- Motor Vehicle Record (if applicable)
- International background check (if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated monthly
- Education verification (nursing degree verification required)
- State-specific searches as applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) for travel candidates, updated annually
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years
Competencies & Training
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
- Specialty-specific competency exams (e.g., EFM training for Labor & Delivery RNs)
- Skills checklists updated annually (if applicable)
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background)
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules including:
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules (ER, L&D, Leadership roles, Hospice/Home Health/Assisted Living)
- Regional core and specialty-specific modules based on location and specialty
- Float policy acknowledgement (may be required to float to other nearby facilities)
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- State License 1 Verification
- NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, or AP license status
