Description

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (Contract)

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit and Work Environment

Progressive Care Unit (15 beds total)
- 3 Step-down ICU beds
- 12 Telemetry beds
Nurse-to-patient ratio:
- 1:4 in Progressive Care
- 1:3 in Step-down ICU
Scheduled 36 hours per week after first week of orientation
No call required
Floating required to other acute units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER

Job Duties

Primary nursing care
Telemetry monitoring and strip reading
Fingerstick blood sugar testing
Use of equipment such as:
- Meditech electronic charting system
- Pyxis medication dispensing system
- BIPAP machines
- Continuous cardiac monitoring

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Hawaii
Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) cardiac experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
Acute Care experience
BLS certification

Additional Information

Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
Dress code: Scrubs
