Job Opportunity: House Supervisor - Registered Nurse
Location: Tarzana, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Manage patient complaints across any department.
- Experience in Critical Care or Emergency Department is a plus.
- Typically, weekends are not required unless a survey is on site.
- Ensure timely intake, investigation, documentation, and response to CMS-defined grievances.
- Provide clinical oversight of event reporting, triage, and escalation.
- Facilitate and monitor Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), including corrective action plans.
- Support regulatory inquiries, complaint investigations, and survey readiness.
- Maintain continuity of critical risk management and patient safety functions.
- Review medical records for mortality chart review.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum of 1 year of House Supervisor experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an acute care setting
Required Documents & Compliance
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respiratory safety clearance required for travel candidates (annual).
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
Additional Requirements
- Float Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other nearby facilities.
- Completion of required training modules annually via LMS platform (WorkRamp), including:
- Regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules (e.g., ER, L&D, Leadership roles)
- Regional and facility-specific modules as applicable
- Epic training modules completion may be required depending on assignment location.
- Competency exams and skills checklists as applicable to specialty and unit.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Primarily inpatient acute care setting.
- Weekends typically not required unless survey is scheduled onsite.
- May involve working with multiple departments and handling patient safety and risk management issues.
Summary
This travel contract position for a House Supervisor Registered Nurse requires a minimum of 2 years of inpatient acute care experience. The role focuses on patient complaint management, regulatory compliance, risk management, and clinical oversight. Candidates must hold a valid RN license in California and current BLS certification. Additional certifications and training modules may be required based on the specific unit or specialty. Prior travel experience is not mandatory, making this opportunity suitable for first-time travelers who meet the experience requirement.
