Job Opportunity: Histology Tech

Location: Santa Rosa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Work Schedule: Saturday to Thursday
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description

• Work in an acute care facility setting.
• Patient ratio: 1:1.
• Requires hospital experience with grossing skills (grossing experience is mandatory).
• Weekend shifts required.
• Scrub or business casual attire.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Laboratory specialty.
• Must have hospital experience.
• Strong experience preferred for first-time travelers; candidates with over 10 years of experience are considered.

Licensure & Certifications

• California state license preferred; pending license accepted.
• Must hold appropriate state license for Histology Tech.
• Required certifications may include (verify per clinical track):

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – if applicable
  • Other certifications as required by clinical track or facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Histology Technologist license in California
• Minimum of 2 years of Histology Technologist experience
• Histology Technologist experience within the last year
• Hospital experience

Health Requirements

• Physical exam signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
• Immunizations/vaccinations including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
• Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024.

Background & Compliance

• Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
• Education verification required.
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
• Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting.
• Various state-specific background checks and attestations as applicable.

Additional Requirements

• Completion of required WorkRamp modules prior to start (regulatory, specialty, and regional modules).
• Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background).
• Float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other nearby facilities).
• Competency exams and skills checklists as applicable.
• Fit mask testing and annual updates as required.
• Compliance with all facility-specific and state-specific documentation and training.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but strong experience is preferred for first-time travelers.
• Pending licenses are accepted.
• No Return to Office (RTO) restrictions longer than 7 days.
• This is a travel contract position in an acute care hospital laboratory setting.
