Job Opportunity: School Nurse

Location: Plymouth, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Start Date: ASAP
• End Date: June 10 (approximate)
• Worksite: Post Secondary School program
• Weekly Hours: 40 hours (7:15 AM - 3:45 PM)
• Caseload: 1 student, age 22, nonverbal
• Responsibilities include accompanying the student on transportation and community events daily (nurse will be on the bus with the student)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Michigan
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working as a School Nurse

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fingerprint clearance per Michigan state and school requirements (candidate cannot start while fingerprints are in process)
• Employment history check specific to Michigan
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual
• FERPA training required and must be updated annually
• Other state and school-specific verifications and certifications as applicable

Additional Information

• The nurse will be responsible for direct supervision and care of a nonverbal student during school and community activities
• The role requires flexibility and comfort with travel alongside the student during the school day
• Physical exam, TB testing, and immunizations may be required if specified by the client/school
• Drug testing is not generally required unless specifically requested by the client

Summary

This is a travel contract position for a School Nurse licensed in Michigan, supporting a single nonverbal student in a post-secondary educational program. The nurse will provide hands-on care and accompany the student during transportation and community outings. Strong compliance with state and school-specific licensing, background checks, and training requirements is mandatory.
