Scientist
Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing, testing patient specimens, quality control, instrument operation and maintenance, and assisting with development of new procedures. May perform phlebotomy and other patient-oriented tasks. Cross-training in other lab sections required.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory procedures according to age- and sex-specific values.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on lab instruments.
- Follow quality control programs and document critical lab values.
- Process patient specimens with attention to pediatric specimen volume requirements.
- Use Laboratory Information System for data entry and verification.
- Participate in evaluation and implementation of new testing procedures.
- Adapt patient care methods to meet developmental and cultural needs.
- Complete all compliance and regulatory tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
- Certification from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS
- A Bachelor's Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489 (including U.S. Military laboratory training courses of at least 50 weeks), or education evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
Work Schedule
- Multiple shifts available:
- Day shift: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
- Evening shift: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Sysmex, Abbott Alinity, and EPIC systems is a plus.

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
