Nurse Navigator Oncology (Registered Nurse)
Location: Mission Viejo, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Role: Nurse Navigator supporting patients undergoing ongoing Oncology treatment.
- Workload: Primarily administrative, managing care plans for Oncology patients.
- Setting: Outpatient Cancer Center with state-of-the-art facilities.
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Temp-to-perm position requiring an initial 26-week commitment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California.
- Minimum 2 years of Oncology nursing experience, with Oncology experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Facility & Work Environment
- Facility Type: Outpatient Cancer Center.
- Electronic Health Record: EPIC system used for charting.
- Locals accepted but not required.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including SSN trace, death master index, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, education verification, and others as applicable.
- Drug Screen: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start required. Instant tests acceptable with attestation.
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations/vaccinations including TDAP (within 10 years), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B (vaccination or signed declination), Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccine (or declination), and COVID vaccination record preferred.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates.
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates, updated annually.
- Employment History: Minimum 5 years of employment history required on application, with at least 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Skills Checklist: Annual update required for applicable units.
- Photo: Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required.
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Specialty-specific competency exams and certifications as required by the facility and specialty.
- Epic training modules completion required (specific to SoCal region).
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific WorkRamp training modules required.
Additional Notes
- Must sign for a minimum of 26 weeks to start (temp-to-perm).
- No weekend or on-call shifts required.
- No floating between units required.
- Locals accepted but not mandatory.
