Job Opportunity: Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse

Location: Calabasas, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 8 hours between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM
• Hours per week: 40
• Weekend requirement: Occasional
• Floating: No
• On-call: No
• Scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
• Active nursing license required at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient surgery experience within the last year
• Experience in Pre-Op and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check within 6 months of start, including:

  • 7-year county residence check
  • Nationwide criminal search
  • Sex offender search
  • Federal district court search
  • International criminal searches if lived outside the U.S. in last 7 years
• Education verification of highest level completed
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
• Fit mask test within 1 year (updated annually)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of positive, additional documentation required
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series, titer, or declination
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (or proof of disease history)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
• Drug screening panel within 1 year (excluding Marijuana/THC)
• Two professional references required, at least one supervisory

Orientation and Competency Requirements

• Pass/fail EKG assessment during orientation (applicable to PACU and related units)
• Medication test during orientation (not pass/fail)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required with up to 3 attempts
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification check
• Fire card training/course required onsite during orientation
• Completion of facility-specific modules and competency exams as required

Additional Notes

• Candidates interested in converting to permanent positions are preferred
• Photo for badge must meet strict requirements (passport-style photo, centered face, bright lighting, plain background)
• Various facility-specific policies and acknowledgements must be reviewed and signed prior to start
