Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse
Location: Santa Rosa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM)
- Average Daily Census: 25-30 patients
- Rooms/Beds: 8
- Float Requirements: Must float to Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), Home Health (HH), and other hospital units as needed
- Patient Care Setting: Inpatient acute Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Weekend Requirement: No weekends required
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an inpatient care setting
Required Health and Safety Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work
- Immunizations and titers:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (9/1–3/30)
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable with attestation
- Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use, medically cleared annually (travel only)
- Fit mask test (travel only), updated annually or completed onsite
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Education verification for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcripts)
- State-specific searches and registry checks as applicable
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for advanced practice nurses/subcontractors)
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules (regulatory, specialty-specific, and regional core modules) prior to start and annually thereafter
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- Floating to other units within a reasonable distance is mandatory
- No weekend shifts required
- Must comply with all facility-specific and state-specific credentialing and compliance requirements
- Modules and certifications must be maintained and updated as per facility and regulatory guidelines
This position offers a structured day shift schedule in a busy inpatient PACU setting, requiring a skilled RN with acute care PACU experience and current certifications. The role involves floating to multiple care settings and adherence to comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
