Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General

Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
Hours per Week: 40 hours


Job Description

  • Work setting primarily in Obstetrics with required skills in 1st to 3rd trimester ultrasounds, fetal anatomical surveys, multiple pregnancies, nuchal translucency screening, and umbilical cord Doppler.
  • Additional required skills include renal/pelvis imaging: transvaginal, uterus, and vaginal ultrasounds.
  • Float requirement: Must float once a week to a nearby clinic less than 1 mile away.
  • No call or weekend requirements.
  • Approximately 15-20 scans per room, with 3 rooms in use.
  • Orientation lasts about 16 hours, conducted over 1-2 days with the lead tech.
  • Scrubs colors allowed: Blue, Black, Dark Grey.
  • Equipment used includes GE and Phillips portable ultrasound machines (Volusion 6, S8 Touch, Versana).
  • Unit systems include Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
  • Recent ultrasound technologist experience within the last year.
  • Experience as an Ob/Gyn Sonographer.
  • BLS certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with adult ultrasound imaging.
  • Additional fetal skills such as abdomen, abdominal circumference, bone lengths, fingers/toes, and gender determination.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks required within 90 days of start, including local, federal, national criminal databases, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree related to profession.
  • Drug screening required within 30 days of start (10-panel urine screen).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required.
  • Fit mask testing required (N95 or PAPR training).
  • Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or declination form).
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
  • Required to complete annual mandatory education and compliance training.
  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and confidentiality agreements.
  • Must provide professional references as per Aya Healthcare requirements.
  • Radiation badge required if applicable (not typical for this role but noted for related techs).

Additional Information

  • No call-offs or additional RTO (release time off) allowed after booking; excessive absences may lead to cancellation.
  • Scheduling is per clinic needs.
  • No weekend or call requirements.
  • Candidates must complete all required documentation and training prior to start.
  • Badge photo requirements vary by location; South Carolina candidates generally do not require a photo unless assigned to a specific clinic.
  • Candidates must complete the Corp ID process and log into the learning system within 24 hours of receiving credentials to avoid start delays.

This is a 13-week travel contract for an Ultrasound Tech specializing in Obstetrics with a focus on fetal and renal/pelvic ultrasound skills. The position offers a consistent day shift with no call or weekend requirements and includes a float to a nearby clinic once weekly. ARDMS and BLS certifications are mandatory, with a minimum of 2 years of experience required. First-time travelers are welcome.
