Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse
Location: Apple Valley, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (11:00 AM to 11:30 PM)
- Schedule: Block schedule Monday-Wednesday, option for flexibility Monday-Saturday; no Sundays
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital with 212 staffed beds
- Charting System: Epic (experience highly preferred)
- Call Requirement: No on-call duties
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
- Local Radius: 50 miles (locals welcome)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of wound care experience, including experience within the last year
- Wound Care Certification or WCON required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Respirator clearance required for travel candidates (annual)
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (annual)
Background and Compliance
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education verification required for nursing degree
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment
- Work history verification may be required if reference exceptions are requested
- Various state-specific background and registry checks as applicable
Training and Competencies
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for wound care nursing
- Epic training modules (transcripts required)
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually
Additional Notes
- No scheduling requests due to outside employment will be considered
- Free parking available at the facility
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to nearby facilities within reasonable distance
This position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive acute care environment with a focus on wound care nursing, utilizing Epic charting, and a structured but flexible schedule.
