Job Opportunity: Stepdown Registered Nurse (Night Shift)
Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30 - 7:00)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Weekends: Required
- Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Registered Nurse
- First-time travel nurses: Eligible to apply
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Oklahoma
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance
- 7-year background check completed within 1 year of start date, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, and education verification
- Education verification of highest level completed (transcript or diploma accepted if verification pending)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Annual unit-specific skills checklist
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
Additional Requirements
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam with minimum passing score (80% or Angoff score)
- Color blindness test (online version accepted)
- Competency exams as applicable to profession
- Orientation safety manual and HIPAA acknowledgement
- Photo for badge identification
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
- This is a night shift role in a stepdown unit, providing care for patients requiring intermediate monitoring (Telemetry level).
- Candidates must be prepared to work weekends and maintain required certifications and documentation current throughout the contract.
This position offers an opportunity for Registered Nurses with at least one year of experience to work a travel contract in a stepdown unit on night shifts with a 1:4 patient ratio.
