Registered Nurse - Oncology (Travel)

Location

  • Birmingham, Alabama

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
  • Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Unit: 7M Oncology, 18 beds
  • Patient Ratio: 6:1
  • Float Requirements: As needed within scope, including to other facilities within a 25-mile radius

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification (AHA)

  • Computer, IV pump, vital sign machine, and other basic medical equipment
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner

Dress Code

  • Scrubs only, navy color
  • Scrub jackets allowed
  • No other attire permitted

Summary

This travel RN position is for an oncology unit with a focus on providing care to oncology, palliative, bariatric post-op, and medical/surgical overflow patients. The role requires night shifts with every other weekend coverage, no call, and the ability to float within a 25-mile radius. Candidates must have at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience, with oncology and acute care experience preferred, and hold current BLS and NIHSS certifications. The work environment uses Cerner EMR and standard medical equipment. The dress code is strictly navy scrubs and scrub jackets.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Alabama
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience
  • Oncology experience within the last year
  • Med/Surg nursing experience
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Current NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
