Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (Travel/Contract)
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work primarily first shift with staggered start times between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM, scheduled as 3x10-hour shifts (10 hours/day, 30 hours/week).
- Call rotation includes primary call approximately one day every 4 weeks and every 5th-6th weekend, plus backup call about 7 days every 9 weeks.
- No float requirement.
- Weekend and evening/night call rotation required.
- Daily caseload ranges from 13 to 17 cases.
- Patient population mainly adults and geriatrics, with some adolescents.
- Procedures include neuro (stroke intervention) and body imaging/interventional procedures such as stents, angioplasty, angiograms, nephrograms, kyphoplasty, biopsies, drainages, vascular and neurological studies.
- Use of Siemens and Phillips x-ray equipment required; Acuson preferred.
- Hospital orientation during the first week with mandatory daily classes.
- Scrubs provided.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
- Prior traveler experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
- BLS certification
- ARRT certification
- Experience in an inpatient hospital setting
Preferred Qualifications
- ARRT Advanced Certification preferred.
- Experience with EPIC and McKesson systems preferred.
- Experience in outpatient, OR, ER, Level I trauma, teaching hospital, community hospital settings, and ablations is a plus.
Patient and Unit Details
- Patient age group: majority adults and geriatrics, some adolescents.
- Required skills in neuro and body interventional procedures, including stroke intervention.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months required for clinical candidates.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 6 months of start required.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; additional documentation required for past positive TB.
- Immunizations/titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B. Declinations generally not accepted.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Physical exam and references required per travel agency standards.
- Radiation badge required for interventional radiology roles.
- Color blindness testing within 1 year required.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required as applicable.
Orientation and Training
- Hospital orientation week one with daily classes mandatory.
- Completion of facility-specific education modules and compliance training required.
- Must complete Medication Safety training and other facility-required education prior to or during orientation.
- Must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Checklist (for North Carolina travel candidates).
- Must complete annual compliance and confidentiality agreements.
Additional Notes
- No return to origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
- Photo ID (passport-style photo on white background) required immediately after signing contract for badge creation.
- Candidates must complete corporate ID setup and log into the learning management system within 24 hours of receiving credentials to avoid start delays.
- Call-offs and attendance policies are strictly enforced.
This position is ideal for experienced interventional radiology professionals with prior travel experience seeking a challenging and fast-paced hospital environment with a variety of advanced IR procedures.
