Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Eureka, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Work in a Cath Lab setting performing diagnostic and interventional procedures related to Coronary Artery Disease, Peripheral Vascular Disease, and Cardiac Arrhythmias.
  • Daily caseload: 8-12 procedures including coronary and peripheral diagnostics/interventions and permanent pacemaker placements.
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM).
  • Call required; no weekend or floating requirements.
  • Orientation: 30 hours.
  • First-time travel techs accepted.
  • Locals accepted.
  • Facility may accommodate block scheduling.
  • Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in California.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist.
  • Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year.
  • Certifications:
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
    • Fluoroscopy Permit (pending permits considered if already applied for)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (as applicable).
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
  • Education verification required.
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required).
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required for travel candidates, medically cleared annually.
  • Fit mask testing required annually for travel candidates.

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable.
  • Color blindness testing if required by unit.
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.
  • Radiation badge issued by facility (FYI only).

Work Environment

  • Acute care hospital setting with a focus on cardiac and vascular procedures.
  • Use of advanced technology and equipment in a high-volume Cath Lab.
  • Collaborative team environment with support for professional development.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required.
  • Pending state licenses and permits will be considered if application is in process at time of submission.
  • Facility has no weekend or floating requirements but does require call coverage.
  • Housing support available for travelers struggling to find accommodations.
