Emergency Room Nurse - Nights

Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)

Job Summary

Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered care in the emergency room setting, incorporating evidence-based nursing practices and developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive care. Actively anticipate changes in patient outcomes and unit needs while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care based on respect for patient preferences, values, and needs, involving patients and families as full partners.
• Communicate and advocate patient values and needs during care planning, evaluation, and education.
• Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication and shared decision-making.
• Integrate current evidence, clinical expertise, and patient preferences to optimize healthcare delivery.
• Participate in quality improvement activities using data to monitor and improve care processes and patient safety.
• Minimize risk of harm by adhering to policies, procedures, and guidelines; report unsafe situations.
• Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation and communication to support patient care.
• Engage in leadership activities including committees, shared governance, professional development, and community involvement.
• Support education by precepting and serving as a clinical resource for peers, students, and new staff.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (based on specialty and job requirements).

Additional Information

• This is a night shift position requiring 36 hours per week.
• Contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
