Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Technologist

Location

• Winnebago, Nebraska

Employment Type

• Contract
• Duration: 16 weeks

Schedule

• 7 on / 7 off rotation
• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Work every other weekend during scheduled weeks
• Holidays worked if scheduled
• Overtime earned after 80 hours per pay period

Job Overview

• Perform laboratory testing to assist in disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
• Manage workflow independently, especially on weekends and holidays
• Multitask and adjust priorities; respond to codes and traumas as needed
• Skilled specimen acquisition and routine phlebotomy required
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
• Accession and order tests using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
• Maintain documentation per regulatory and laboratory policies
• Adhere to infection control and sterilization procedures due to regular exposure to infectious specimens
• Provide excellent customer service

Required Qualifications

• Certification by a Medical Laboratory Certification Agency (ASCP, AMT, or NCA)
• Medical Laboratory Technician experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• Medical Technologist experience
• Education:

  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT): Associate degree from an approved Medical Technology/Laboratory Science program
  • Medical Technologist (MT): Bachelor’s degree from an approved Medical Technology/Laboratory Science program
