Job Description

• Work primarily in Med/Surg and ICU Step-down units, with possible shifts in the Emergency Department.
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics.
• Large respiratory care department practicing at the top of their license.
• Night shift schedule: 4 shifts of 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15), totaling 48 hours per week.
• Call required as needed based on workload.
• No floating to other facilities; floating only within the assigned unit.
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts within a 6-week period.
• Patient-to-therapist ratio: 35-45 patients per day.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in ER, Adult ICU, Med/Surg, and ICU/Stepdown settings.
• Respiratory care skills including:

  • Airway management
  • Medication administration
  • Ventilator management
  • Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Suctioning
  • Pulmonary toileting
  • Nebulizer treatments
  • BiPAP, CPAP, Vest therapy, Meta-neb, PAP therapy, Heated high-flow oxygen
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is required.
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Bronchoscopy experience preferred.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification not accepted.

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Equipment Used

• Ventilators and respiratory devices including Servo I, Servo U, Hamilton T1, V60, Night-time VPAP, Omni-labs, V30s.
• ABL90 ABG machine.

Orientation and Training

• Orientation shifts: 7 AM - 7 PM for day shift; night shift RTs will need a few days of day shift orientation.
• Scrubs color: Black.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (or proof of past positive TB with appropriate documentation).
• N95 fit mask required (can be completed onsite if necessary).
• Required immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• Drug screening within 6 months of start.
• Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates.
• Various compliance trainings and competency exams as per travel agency and facility standards.

Additional Notes

• No Return to Office (RTO) after booking is allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
• On-call shifts are workload dependent.
• Required to complete facility-specific education and compliance modules prior to start.
• Photo for badge must be submitted immediately after signing contract to avoid start delays.
• Must complete corporate ID setup and I-Learn login within specified timelines to prevent delays.

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with strong critical care and acute care skills, comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment, and proficient with EPIC. First-time travel therapists are welcome.
