Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Call: Call required
- Experience Required: 1-3 years in cardiothoracic surgery (minimum 3 years preferred)
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
- Role: Circulating RN in CVOR; ability to scrub preferred but not required
- Residency Restriction: Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible (specific counties excluded)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year
- At least 1 year of experience in cardiothoracic surgery
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with follow-up if positive)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Background and Documentation
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Verification of highest level of education required (transcript or diploma accepted as placeholder if needed)
- Employment application and resume required
- 7-year work history verification required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- Clear headshot photo for badge
Additional Notes
- Internal verification requirements include E-Verify and federal exclusion screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
- Orientation safety manual and HIPAA acknowledgement required
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
