Description
MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Thursday to Saturday, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Floating required to Orthopedics and Scotts Hill Medical Center as needed
- No call requirement
- Must be available for hospital orientation classes during the first week (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Expected start date may vary; travelers must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation week
- Assigned to Storm/Hurricane Teams; may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters
- Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics (neonates, infants, and pediatrics preferred familiarity)
- Equipment used: GE and Siemens MRI machines
- Documentation system: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid MRI Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of MRI Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment; not a first-time traveler (unit will not accept first-time travelers)
- Certifications: BLS and ARRT
Preferred Qualifications
- Skills in chest imaging and image post-processing
Orientation & Onboarding Requirements
- Must attend full hospital and unit orientation during the first week
- Photo for badge required immediately after signing contract (passport-style, solid white background, business attire)
- Must complete facility-specific education modules and compliance training prior to or during orientation
- Must complete Medication Safety training (35 minutes for clinical candidates who prepare/administer meds; 20 minutes for those handling/storing meds)
- Must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Checklist (8-10 hours for acute candidates)
- Must complete annual compliance and confidentiality agreements
- Must complete flu vaccination or approved exemption with mask-wearing requirement during flu season
- Must complete background checks and verifications as required (including education verification, drug screening within 6 months, and color blindness testing)
- Must provide proof of negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, or documentation of past positive TB with appropriate follow-up
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Must complete Radiation Badge process if applicable (for MRI techs, radiation badge may be required)
Additional Notes
- Strict policy on time off after booking (RTO) — no working out RTO onsite; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation
- Scheduling is per unit needs and may change based on facility requirements
- Scrubs color: royal blue
This position is ideal for experienced MRI technologists with prior travel contract experience who are flexible with scheduling and able to work extended shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
