Ultrasound Tech

Location: Gardner, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Perform two-dimensional ultrasonic imaging of internal organs using ultrasound equipment to assist physicians in diagnosing diseases and organ malfunctions.
  • Select appropriate ultrasound equipment and transducers based on examination specifications.
  • Explain procedures to patients and assist with positioning for optimal imaging.
  • Operate ultrasound and image processing equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Review physician orders for accuracy and ensure correct exams are performed.
  • Document and enter patient and test data accurately into the computer system.
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow to complete exams timely.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, with special attention to fall prevention and accommodating elderly patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, considering hearing difficulties and pain responses.
  • Comply with policies related to patient safety, including child security measures.

Work Schedule

  • Four 10-hour shifts per week:
    • Monday and Tuesday: 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM
    • Thursday and Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Rotating on-call weekends: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Rotating holidays

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, with experience within the last year.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Frequent reaching and handling with hands.
  • Occasional stooping, crouching, and tactile perception.
