Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health

Location: Belle Mead, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (12-hour shift)
Hours per Week: 36
Schedule: 3 shifts every 2 weeks (3 x 12), every other weekend required

Job Summary

• Provide individualized quality patient care by assessing patient needs and designing, implementing, and evaluating care plans.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Perform nursing admission assessments considering patient age, disability, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, monitor effects, and document accordingly.
• Participate in treatment planning conferences and update treatment plans as needed.
• Maintain a safe, orderly environment and adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional scope of practice.
• Provide patient and family education tailored to age, culture, educational level, and disability.
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement activities and data collection.
• Handle and dispose of infectious and hazardous materials per policy.
• Document patient information accurately and timely, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
• Participate in orientation of new staff and students.
• Conduct nursing psycho-educational groups as scheduled.
• Model professional standards of behavior.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing required

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting required

Work Environment & Additional Information

• May be assigned to any inpatient unit and float as needed
• No holiday or on-call requirements
• Participation in unit performance improvement and safety initiatives expected
• Must meet annual IV re-certification requirements if applicable
