Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Burbank, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Hours per Week: 40


Job Details

  • Acute Care Hospital setting with 392 staffed beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1
  • Call requirement: 4-6 calls in a 6-week period, including weekends
    • Weekday call hours: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
    • Weekend call hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Weekend work only required when picking up call shifts
  • Floating between like units may be required at manager’s discretion
  • Open to block scheduling per manager discretion
  • Free parking available
  • Charting system: Meditech
  • Scrub color: Any

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) Circulate experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Certifications (as applicable)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM, IV Certification, MAB, NIH Stroke, CPI) may be required based on unit and clinical track
  • Verification of certifications required through credentialing system

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
  • Immunizations and documentation required:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
  • Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (except Radiation Therapists at this location), updated annually
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates

Background and Screening

  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
  • Drug screen (9 panel) within 12 months of start
  • Education verification required for nursing degree
  • State-specific background checks and registries as applicable (e.g., Washington State Patrol Search)
  • Work history verification required if exceptions to references are requested

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Float policy acknowledgement may be required

Notes

  • First-time travel nurses accepted
  • Guaranteed hours with facility able to call off once per two-week pay period
  • Return travelers with less than 30-day gap may have some background and drug screen waivers
  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions must be included at time of submission

This position offers a structured day shift in a busy acute care operating room with a manageable call schedule and opportunities for block scheduling. It requires a minimum of 2 years RN experience, current California RN licensure, and standard healthcare certifications and immunizations.
