ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Tyler, Texas
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
- Location: Tyler, Texas
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Unit: Trauma ICU - Level I Trauma
- Float Requirements: May float to ICU, Intermediate Care (IMC), and Telemetry units as needed
- Number of Beds: 16 beds in 14 rooms
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start date
- Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually
- Immunizations/Vaccinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; chest X-ray and TB questionnaire if positive
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, full series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox required
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Background and Documentation
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide checks, sex offender registry, and education verification
- Employment application and resume required
- 7-year work history verification required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- Photo for badge required
- E-Verify compliance required
- Fingerprinting required for certain states (not applicable for Texas)
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties (e.g., Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris) are not eligible for this travel assignment.
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required.
- Competency exams and color blindness testing may be required as applicable.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with Epic charting skills seeking a trauma ICU travel assignment in Texas with a 13-week contract and day shifts.
