Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a Neuro ICU setting.
  • Neuro ICU experience is required.
  • Must be able to float to ICU, Intermediate Care (IMC), and Telemetry units as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association, RQI, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Travel nursing experience.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
  • E-Verify compliance or attestation as applicable.
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification).
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire.
  • Education verification (highest level of education must be verified).
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
  • Negative 2-step TB test, QGOLD, or TSPOT within 1 year of start.
  • Required immunizations/vaccinations with proper documentation (no “per history” or similar notations accepted):
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
    • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually.
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years.
  • Complete application/resume required.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates residing in the following Texas counties are not eligible for this travel assignment: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris.
  • Orientation and onboarding requirements must be met prior to start.
  • Clear headshot photo required for badge issuance.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Neuro ICU environment with a focus on critical neurological care during night shifts. Candidates should be prepared for floating responsibilities and meet all compliance and certification requirements.
