Occupational Therapist - Acute Care Hospital
Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center
- Total Staffed Beds: 104
- Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Hours per Week: 40
- Patient Ratio: 1:10
- Floating: Yes, may float between units
- On-call: No
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, rotating on a 6-week basis
- Block Schedules: No
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: No fee
- Scrub Color: Any color allowed on all units
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Washington
- Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapist experience within the last year
Certifications (as applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM, IV Certification, etc.) as required by clinical track or facility
Required Documents & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable for I9)
- Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education Verification (degree/diploma/transcript as applicable)
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Immunizations and Health Requirements:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer or signed declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or signed declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection control policies
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024
- Fit Mask Testing required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024 (except Medical Lab Technicians)
Additional Requirements
- Float Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other nearby facilities
- Annual Regulatory and Specialty-Specific Training Modules via LMS (Workramp) required
- Epic training modules completion required within a week of orientation
- WA State Patrol Search and other state-specific background checks as required by law and facility policy

- No 48-hour workweek approval
- Reduced Non-Billable Orientation: 0 hours instead of standard 40 hours
- Non-clinical or remote candidates have different or fewer requirements (not applicable here)
This position is ideal for Occupational Therapists with acute care experience who hold a valid Washington license and are comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment with floating responsibilities and weekend rotations.
