Description

Registered Nurse (NICU) - Travel Position

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide routine and complex nursing care in a Level 4 NICU setting, caring for patients ranging from feeder growers to complex ICU neonatal patients.
Practice independently with awareness of all relevant clinical aspects.
Manage clinical situations by making appropriate assignments and delegating to other care providers.
Patient ratios vary between 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4; CNAs support 1:4 assignments.
Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM.
Weekend requirement: 4 weekends over six weeks, including two Mondays and two Fridays.

Responsibilities

Deliver nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
Meet organizational competencies related to leadership and clinical practice.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, including experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a Perinatal Setting preferred.

Orientation and Onboarding

New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days.
New hires receive preceptorship by trained staff and must complete organizational and Perinatal Services-specific competency validations.
Completion of all annual competency verifications required.

Work Schedule

Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM, full-time.
Weekend coverage as specified above.
