Registered Nurse (RN) - Float

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Work Schedule: Full Time


Job Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care tailored to the age and needs of the patient population on assigned units. Ensures quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards. Demonstrates professionalism, respect, and effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.


Responsibilities

  • Perform initial patient assessments and prioritize care based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
  • Systematically reassess patients to monitor progress and identify interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care within nursing standards.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans as needed.
  • Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning.
  • Perform Point of Care testing procedures.
  • Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff and students.
  • Serve as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff.
  • Promote a positive, professional work environment and collaborate to achieve unit goals.
  • Exhibit behaviors that foster patient satisfaction, respect patient rights and confidentiality, and support hospital mission and continuous improvement.
  • Adapt to changes in work environment or schedule with flexibility and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Comply with all policies, maintain positive attendance, and adhere to safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of float nursing experience within the last year.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record system.

Additional Information

  • Weekend work is required.
  • Floating between units is required.
  • No on-call requirement.
  • Electronic Medical Record system used: EPIC (required).
