Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day shift: 07:00 - 19:30)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet recognized
- Total Staffed Beds: 426
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: Free
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience (hard stop, no exceptions)
- No first-time travelers accepted (must have prior travel experience)
- Experience in large hospital settings is highly preferred
- Must be able to circulate during procedures
- Must be able to perform sterile vaginal exams
- Weekend shifts may exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- Travel pairs will not be considered
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate (required)
- AWHONN Advanced (preferred)
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse license for California (pending licenses not accepted)
- NURSYS verification required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification required)
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work
- Immunizations and Health Requirements:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel nurses
- Fit Mask test required annually (effective for new starts on or after 2/5/2024)
- Annual completion of required Workramp training modules (regulatory, specialty, regional, and facility-specific)
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Skills Checklist updated annually (applicable to unit)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam (required for all L&D RNs)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- ACLS certification
- NRP certification
- AWHONN Intermediate certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Notes
- Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
- Guaranteed hours may be subject to facility call-offs once per pay period
- Badge photo required prior to start (passport style with neutral background)
- Float Policy Acknowledgement required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities
- Epic training modules must be completed promptly after orientation
- No scheduling accommodations for outside employment
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel experience who are ready to work in a large, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital setting.
