Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating and supervising all functions of the Clinical Laboratory, including staffing, training, scheduling, budgeting, quality control, and regulatory compliance. Ensures smooth daily operations and maintains communication with physicians and administration. Oversees performance improvement activities and maintains 24/7 laboratory coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all laboratory functions.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet licensure and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and manage the annual departmental budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Supervise laboratory staff, including hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
• Schedule staff to ensure timely and accurate testing.
• Maintain quality control documentation and verify test accuracy.
• Evaluate and implement new testing methods and instrumentation.
• Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct staff development, continuing education, and in-service training.
• Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to infection control and safety policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to support patient care and performance improvement.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
• Represent the organization professionally and uphold ethical business practices.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) license in California.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry.
• Minimum of 2 years of Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) experience, including experience within the last year.
