Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Travel/Contract)

Location: Calabasas, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with total joint experience for a travel contract position in an ambulatory surgery center. The role involves working primarily in the Operating Room with some ambulatory care exposure.

Schedule

Shift: Day shift, 8 hours per day (between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM)
Hours per week: 40
Weekend work: Occasional
Floating: Not required
On-call: Not required

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
Experience in an outpatient setting
Ambulatory care experience
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
ACLS certification
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Additional Requirements

First-time travel nurses are accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Government-issued photo ID required
Background check including 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and others as specified
Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
Fit mask test within 1 year (N95 or equivalent)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of positive TB, additional documentation required
Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Hepatitis B vaccine series, titer, or declination
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (mandatory during flu season)
Drug screening panel within 1 year (excluding Marijuana/THC)
Professional references: 2 required, at least 1 supervisory

Competency and Testing

Medication competency exam with minimum 80% passing score (2 attempts allowed)
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (time sensitive, up to 3 attempts allowed)
Pass/fail EKG assessment during orientation (specific units only)
Medication test during orientation (not pass/fail)

Onboarding and Compliance

Photo for badge required (must meet strict photo guidelines)
Must sign various facility-specific documents including code of conduct, job hazard analysis, social media policy, and attendance policy
Fire safety card required within first 6 months (course provided onsite during orientation)
Scheduling requests cannot be accommodated

Preferences

Candidates interested in converting to permanent employment are preferred

This position offers a structured day shift with a focus on total joint procedures in an ambulatory surgery setting, requiring a minimum of 1 year of OR and ambulatory experience plus mandatory total joint experience. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
