Job Opportunity: Medical Technologist

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10-hour days (Wednesday to Saturday)
  • Hours per week: 40 hours
  • Guaranteed 70 hours per 2 weeks; may be called off for one 10-hour shift per 2 weeks

  • 10 Bed LTACH/ICU and 46 Bed Inpatient Rehabilitation
  • Total staffed beds: 56
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Parking: Free

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Must hold one of the following certifications:
    • ASCP
    • ASCP MT
    • ASCP MLT (either MT or MLT accepted)
  • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
  • No on-call required
  • No floating outside scope of practice
  • Block scheduling accommodation available

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (as applicable for I9)
  • Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education Verification required for all candidates
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require both positive titer and vaccine series)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance required for travel candidates, medically cleared annually
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format

Training & Competencies

  • Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Color blindness testing if required by unit
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Additional Requirements

  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required
  • Must comply with facility-specific float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to nearby facilities)
  • No pending licenses accepted
  • Time off requests limited to one per 13-week assignment, approved individually

Notes

  • Locals not accepted; candidate’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
  • No weekend requirement beyond scheduled Wed-Sat shifts
  • No floating outside scope of practice
  • Background checks and other verifications have specific regional and state requirements, including fingerprinting for Alaska placements
  • Epic training modules required for facility access

This position is ideal for Medical Technologists with at least 1 year of experience seeking a travel contract in an inpatient rehabilitation and LTACH/ICU setting in Anchorage, Alaska.
