Job Opportunity: First Assist - Operating Room

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must have a skill level of 3 or higher in joint, neuro, and ortho surgeries (no exceptions).
• Broad surgical knowledge required, with experience in multiple service lines including general surgery, gynecology, robotics, neurology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, burn, and trauma.
• Procedures performed on the unit are variable.
• Scheduling is variable and includes call requirements.
• May float to other departments as needed.
• Facility provides scrubs as the required uniform.
• Documentation system used: Cerner.
• Patient ratio typically 1:1.
• Unit is part of a large hospital licensed for 815 beds, recognized for high clinical quality and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of First Assist experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications required:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) Certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience in the following specialties:

  • Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
  • Neurology
  • Orthopedics
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Urology
