Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Salem, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Maternity Care Center
Beds: 9 LDR (Labor, Delivery, Recovery), 8 PP/GYN (Postpartum/Gynecology), 2 OR suites, 23 wellborn nursery
Staff: 50+
Shifts:
- Day: Director, Manager, Couplet nurses, Birth response nurse, L&D nurses, Scrub Tech
- Night: Clinical coordinator or charge nurse, Birth response, Couplet, L&D nurses, Scrub Tech
Patient Ratios:
- 3 couplets per nurse
- L&D: 1:1 for active labor, Pitocin, epidural
Equipment: Corometrics
EMR Systems: Centricity Perinatal, Meditech

Job Responsibilities

Labor & Delivery care
Cesarean sections (including circulator, 1st assist, scrub roles)
Post-partum and newborn care
OB/ED triage, inductions, midwife support

Schedule & Work Conditions

36 hours per week
4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (days: Saturday/Sunday; nights: Friday/Saturday)
No call requirement for travel staff, with optional extra shifts available
Floating limited to within the unit only
Scrubs provided

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Labor and Delivery experience (minimum 2 years) within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN, BLS, NRP

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cesarean section roles (circulator, 1st assist, scrub)
