Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Shift: Day (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical Surgical, 32 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- Rapid response team activation required
- No call required; floating to similar units only
- Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks
- Charting system: Epic
- Shift options: 36 or 48 hours per week; hours over 48 are overtime
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Additional Information
- Unit accepts first-time travel nurses (no prior travel experience required)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification preferred
- Orientation includes fingerprinting and Epic training (travelers cannot work until fingerprint clearance is received, typically 1-3 business days)
- No call responsibilities
- Floating only to like units
This position is ideal for a Medical Surgical RN with at least one year of recent experience, comfortable working day shifts with a 1:6 patient ratio, and able to meet comprehensive credentialing and immunization requirements.
