Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department

• Pulaski, Tennessee

• Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit and Patient Population

• Unit: Detox Unit
• Number of beds: 13
• Patient population: Adults and geriatrics (occasionally 17-year-olds)
• Patient ratio: 1:7
• Common diagnoses: Substance abuse, polysubstance abuse, alcohol use disorder, behavioral conditions, hypertension, syncope, seizures, liver disease, cognitive changes, high fall risk
• Treatments include valium tapers, subutex, vivitrol, banana bags, rescue medications, and routine/home meds

Schedule and Hours

• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours: Every other weekend and as needed
• No call required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with ED experience within the last year required

Skills and Responsibilities

• Patient care across all adult age groups
• IV access and management
• Assist with bedside procedures such as PICC lines and midlines
• Perform bedside shift reports, briefs, debriefs, and unit checks
• Ability to work calmly in chaotic situations and support team dynamics
• Willingness to learn and follow facility standards and audits
• May be required to float to other departments occasionally

Equipment and Systems

• IV pumps, Zoll monitor, IV catheters
• Electronic Health Record system: HMS/Medhost

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Any solid color
• Prohibited attire: Outerwear with non-hospital logos, hoodies, open-toed shoes, t-shirts except on specified days, jewelry or items that can be pulled or used as weapons

Additional Notes

• Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
• Tennessee Abuse Registry check required prior to assignment start
