Registered Nurse - Oncology (Travel)
Location: Dallas, Texas
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Employment Type: Travel
Unit Information
- Specialty Unit: Oncology
- Number of Beds: 41
- Staffing (per floor):
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, up to 5 RNs, 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, up to 5 RNs, 1 PCT
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, up to a maximum of 5:1
- Equipment: Baxter pumps
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Chemotherapy Certification
Skills and Competencies
- Must have:
- Strong understanding of sterile dressing changes
- Infection prevention knowledge
- Solid understanding of blood and electrolyte replacement protocols
- Preferred:
- General medical oncology knowledge
- Familiarity with ports and central lines

- Daily blood and electrolyte replacement
- Sterile dressing changes
Work Environment and Schedule
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs, monogrammed with hospital name; hospital-approved jackets allowed
- Shift Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
- Weekend and On-call: Rotating schedule
