MRI Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 07:00), Thursday through Saturday
  • Call Requirement: None
  • Float Requirement: Must float between Orthopedics and main hospital units
  • Orientation: Mandatory hospital orientation during week one (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), must attend all classes
  • Start Date: Subject to change based on class and trainer availability; travelers must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation week
  • Scrubs: Royal blue required
  • Patient Population: Required experience with adolescents, adults, and geriatrics; preferred familiarity with neonates, infants, and pediatrics
  • Equipment: Experience with GE and Siemens imaging equipment
  • Unit Systems: EPIC for medication, documentation, and communication
  • Disaster Response: Contract staff may be assigned to Storm or Hurricane Teams and required to work during catastrophic events or disasters

Required Qualifications

  • Valid MRI Technologist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of MRI Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Experience working with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Proficient in imaging of abdomen, pelvis, head and neck, spine, musculoskeletal system
  • Skilled in diffusion imaging (non-brain) and gradient echo imaging

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills in chest imaging and image post-processing

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, additional documentation required
  • Required immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Physical exam and references as per travel agency standards
  • Mandatory completion of facility-specific education modules including:
    • Medication Safety
    • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Annual Compliance Training
    • Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Checklist (for NC travel candidates)
    • Tobacco-Free Campus Acknowledgement
  • Completion of competency exams and color blindness testing as required
  • Radiation badge required for applicable techs (including Radiology Techs)

Additional Notes

  • No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
  • Must provide a passport-style photo on a solid white background for badge creation immediately after signing contract
  • Must complete password setup and login to facility’s learning system (I-Learn) within 24 hours of receiving credentials to avoid start delays
  • Must be available to accommodate schedule changes during orientation week (start date confirmed the Tuesday prior to start week)

This position is ideal for experienced MRI Technologists with prior travel assignments who are flexible and able to work night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment with a diverse patient population.
