Travel RN - Wound/Ostomy Care

Location: Salem, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit and Work Environment

Unit: Inpatient Wound Care
Number of Beds: 512
Patient Ratios: Consulted for wound care recommendations and treatment with weekly follow-ups
Documentation System: Expanse
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
Role is autonomous, involving consultation for inpatient wound patients including recommendations, pictures, and measurements
Responsibilities include new ostomy teaching and managing difficult wound vacs and fistulas
Certification: WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing) certification required

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of wound care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
WOCN certification
BLS certification
Ability to function independently in wound care management
De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting

Additional Information

Advanced wound care skills are necessary
The role involves working with complex wound care cases and requires specialized knowledge in wound vacs and fistula management
The unit supports a consultative approach to wound care with ongoing patient follow-up

This position is ideal for experienced wound care RNs seeking a travel assignment with a structured weekday schedule and an autonomous clinical role.
