Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Danville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN to provide backfill coverage. Candidates with ICU and ED experience will be considered. The position is based in a 31-bed Emergency Room serving all age groups, including behavioral health and acute patients.
Work Schedule
- 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Rotating weekends/as needed
- No call requirements
- Float as needed
Unit Details
- Emergency Department with 31 beds and 2 triage rooms
- Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
- Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech (for admit holds and behavioral health patients)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications prior to start:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- HWC (Health Worker Certification) or Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI) or equivalent (available on-site)
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Extensive Emergency Room experience
- Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented attitude
Additional Information
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
- Scrub color is traveler’s choice
- Facility serves a diverse patient population including geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients
- Located in a community with small-town charm and access to parks, trails, and cultural attractions
Note: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for travel status.
