Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse

Location: Napa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 8-hour shifts
  • Day shifts, typically 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5 days a week)
  • Shift times may vary based on surgical schedule and unit needs (start times around 9:00, 10:00, or 1:30 PM)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Health and Safety Documents

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declination accepted)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (9/1–3/30)
  • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
  • 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable)
  • Respiratory safety clearance (RespSafety questionnaire) required annually for travel candidates
  • Fit mask test required for travel candidates, updated annually (onsite testing available if needed)

Background and Verification Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
  • Education verification required for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • State-specific background checks as applicable (e.g., Washington State Patrol Search)
  • References and work history verification as needed to meet credentialing standards

Additional Requirements

  • Passport-style photo with neutral background for badge issuance
  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp) prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Float policy acknowledgment: may be required to float to other nearby facilities within reasonable distance
  • Competency exams and skills checklists as applicable, updated annually
  • Some units may require color blindness testing or additional competency exams
