Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Unit: Cardiovascular (CV) PreOp
- Number of Beds: 4
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
- On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
- Floating: Within scope of practice and experience
- Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
- Documentation System: Cerner
Patient Population & Care
- High-acuity cardiovascular surgery patients
- Procedures include large-bore IV starts, chin-to-toe hair removal, medication administration, skin assessment
- Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Transport patients to OR; assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin prep
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of preoperative experience
- Preoperative experience within the last year
- Critical care experience
- RN experience in Cardiovascular Surgery
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

- Unit staffing includes RNs supported by CNC, secretary, and manager (shared with CVOR)
- Dress code: Uniform provided
