Staff RN - PCU
Location: Lancaster, Ohio
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individual patient care using the nursing process.
- Direct co-workers and delegate appropriate tasks.
- Perform duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with PCU experience within the last year.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience in supervisory roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide quality nursing care based on patient assessment and established care plans.
- Educate patients and families throughout admission to discharge.
- Document nursing care accurately and legibly.
- Notify physicians of significant patient status changes.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
- Implement physician orders as written.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of equipment and supplies.
- Supervise and direct Nursing Assistants professionally.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Heavy physical work: lifting/moving 50-100 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently.
- Frequent patient handling required.
- Ability to regulate emotions, manage urgent situations calmly, and communicate empathetically.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and observation skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
