Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Position

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Work in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (NPCU) on the 5th floor
Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients
Care for stable post-stroke, stable neuro surgery, telemetry, and medical patients
Unit has 20 beds with a patient ratio of 5:1
Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
No call requirements
Float to Medical, Telemetry, and Neonatal units as needed
Electronic Health Record system: Cerner

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), including Neuro PCU experience
PCU experience within the last year
Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)

Additional Information

Candidates must live at least 60 miles away to qualify for travel status
Orientation start dates are scheduled on specific dates from August through December 2026
Unit specialty includes neuro medical strokes, neuro-orthopedic surgeries, overflow telemetry, and medical patients

Work Environment

20-bed unit focused on neuro progressive care
Patient ratio: 5 patients per nurse
Adult and geriatric patient population
No weekend or call requirements specified
Dress code and scrub color not specified

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with neuro and telemetry skills seeking a travel assignment in a specialized progressive care unit.
