Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Position in a 32-bed Emergency Department with a fast-paced environment.
• Patient population ranges from birth to death.
• Patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5.
• Use of critical care equipment and Cerner EHR system.
• Weekend hours rotate every other weekend.
• Call requirements vary depending on census.
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36.
• Float to other areas as needed based on competencies.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, CPI, PALS or ENPC, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Work Environment & Culture

• Energetic and knowledgeable personality fit preferred.
• Good patient and family communication skills essential.
• Dress code: scrubs of any color allowed; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts are not acceptable.

Additional Information

• Emergency Department is part of a larger medical center with multiple specialty centers including Brain, Cancer, Heart, Lung, Orthopedics, Surgery, Women’s Center, and Level 3 NICU.
• The ED receives all trauma cases but does not have a designated trauma level.

Note: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel.
