Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 48
Unit and Work Environment
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Number of Beds: 29
- Patient Ratios: Ideally 1:4, currently running 1:5
- Staffing: Unit secretaries and patient care technicians available
- Equipment: Alaris IV pumps, Welch Allyn vital signs machines, bladder scanner, vein finder
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling: Staff self-schedule; flexibility especially for night shifts (e.g., 3 nights in a row)
- Floating Policy: Staff float to areas within their competencies
- Team Culture: Cohesive team environment; looking for candidates who work well with others
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Familiarity with cardiac drips and insulin drips
Job Responsibilities and Expectations
- Provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate care
- Vital signs monitoring every 4 hours or more frequently based on patient condition
- Blood glucose checks as ordered
- Required documentation and assessments every shift
